About Me

Hello! My name is Yu Wu but please call me Wendy. I am pursuing an MFA in Scenic Design at Indiana University. I received my MFA in Properties Design and Management from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in the spring of 2022. I am a huge art nerd! I am drawn to all types of creative work and research, therefore working in theatre and other creative industries makes me happy.

My fine arts background taught me how to be artistic with intentions. My education within set building, prop making, and scenic painting has broadened my view on materials, techniques, and sharpened my skill set. I appreciate how scenic teams can use their detailed artistry to turn designs into a reality.

I enjoy the collaboration and communication scenic design requires. It is inspiring to work with a team of people with different perspectives. The creativity and strength in a team is incredible, especially when brainstorming and troubleshooting a project.
